FROM THE PRESIDENT - 2010, Chapter 308

PRESIDENT - Jack Ward (540)265-1788

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

From the President 2010

2008 and 2009 have been monumental years for Roanoke Chapter 308.  In 2008 the chapter took on the task of starting Trout in the Class Room in the Roanoke Valley .  We started with 3 schools in the 2008-2009 school year with one each in Roanoke City , Roanoke County and the City of Salem .  For the 2009-2010 school year 20 additional schools were added throughout the Roanoke Valley and Craig County .  All of this was accomplished through the hard work of a few chapter members and the generous donations of a few individuals, businesses and foundations in the local area.

As we approach 2010 we look forward to continued growth in the Trout in the Class Room program with additional schools being added for the 2010-2011 school year.  We will also continue to work with other local conservation groups, businesses and local governments to develop projects that will restore and protect cold the water resources within the Roanoke Valley and surrounding area.

The Roanoke Chapter of Trout Unlimited embraces the mission statement and vision of National TU.  Which is to “conserve, protect and restore North America’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds”?  Also, “by the next generation, Trout Unlimited will ensure that robust populations of native and wild coldwater fish once again thrive within their North American range, so that our children can enjoy healthy fisheries in their home waters.”  Please join us at meetings or activities; you do not have to be a TU member to attend.  We are all volunteers, visitors are always welcome.

Jack Ward, President                    504-265-1788
