Roanoke TU - Orvis Sign Up Day
Our Chapter was invited to the Orvis facility to
encourage their members to sign up for our TU chapter and to explain what our
orginaization is
all about. Present were Marvin Huffman, Bill Bainter, Bayes Wilson and
Dick Taylor. We set up in the Orvis employee's breakroom from 10:00 am to 2:00
pm. Handed out literature, answered questions, displayed photographs of our
various activities and encouraged employee's to join T.U. and take advantage or
Orvis' payroll sign up option available during their open enrollment period.
Afterwards, we were afforded a tour of the huge facility (300,000 sq. ft. @ 8
acres under roof) and got tosee the entire operation. Unbelievable how huge the
facility really is
and they have part of their operations that ship orders to the UK by the plane
load. They can now "personalize" items via a laser set up
including an $8,000.00 bamboo rod. Everyone should have one! Story and
