November 28, 2007 Meeting President, Dover England call the meeting to order. He presented two President's awards to Chip Davis, Secretary and Jon Wilson, Webmaster for their work and time given to the chapter. David Wilson gave the Treasurers report: $9128.63 in checking account, $5128 gross receipts from annual raffle and a net of $4585 after expenses. David also handed out Record Keeping Reports for all members to track their time given to the chapter. National TU uses this for their records and such. Dover talked about the Jackson River Handicap pier project and thanked all those involved. Ron Herring discussed the TU/Orvis Roanoke Valley and River Watershed Partnership. Key issues being, manpower, time, funding, collaborative relationships. The proposed resolution was read and voted on and approved with minor changes. Contact Ron Herring for more details. The Orvis membership drive has produced 31 new members to date. Keep up the good work!! Tom announced that Orvis offers a 10% discount to Roanoke Valley TU members on fly tying materials including vises and tools. Please remember to ask for the discount the next time you make a purchase from the Roanoke Orvis Store. Dover discussed a possible Roanoke River, North Fork plan with some local owners. More details to follow. Our Guest speaker was Ray Mullins, TU Habitat Restoration Biologist. He discussed what his job was and his future plans. He discussed that he does restoration not only on cold water fisheries but that of the warm water as well.
