Catawba Land Care - Roanoke TU Project

Guest Speakers and program by Ned Yost, Catawba Land Care, Christy Gabbard, LandCare Coordinator, Conservation Management Institute, Virginia Tech.  

   *Request that Roanoke TU adopt 1.3 miles of Catawba Creek which runs through the Catawba Farm owned by the State of Virginia and is managed by Virginia Tech.

   *Adopt to care for and restoration of creek.  Vision is seen by group that it could become a private managed seasonal fishery for Roanoke TU and used as a teaching tool for cold water restoration and projects, to teach fly fishing to children, Project Healing Waters Flyfishing Program and numerous other projects including cancer survivor retreats and etc....

   *Seasonal fishery from October through June.

   *Members are invited to visit and tour property on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 10 a.m. where Ned Yost will host and explain in details the proposed project.
