Meeting April 16, 2008

Dover opened the meeting welcoming new members.  Sorry I did not catch the names.  If anyone has them please send them to me.

Dover presented the presidents award to David Wilson, Treasurer of the Chapter for his dedicated service to the chapter and its members.  Thank you David for all that you do!!

Kid's fishing day - April 26, 2008 8 a.m to 1 p.m at the Baptist Home Shelter, Salem, VA.  We still need nine more people to assist with this worthwhile project.  I promise you will walk away feeling better after working with these kids.  Please contact Dick Vipperman to sign up and for more details.

Gander Mountain Grand Opening.  We need four people per day to help with various events.  They have offered to make a very generous gift for our assistance and presence.  Please contact Dover or Jon Wilson if you are able to help.  Lets try to get out there and help our chapter with this project.

Kite Festival - April 19, 2008.  Still need volunteers to assist at Green Hill Park.  Please contact Jack Ward if you are able to assist.

Bill Bainter and Marvin Huffman presented the facts on the Gathwright Dam Hydro Project.  Members voted to develop a committee to work on this matter.  Bill and Marvin will co-chair and members of the committee will be Karl Miller, Dan Garcia, Jack Ward and Ron Nemura.  Call Bill or Marvin for more details.  Input is needed and this affects all of us and our future fishing on the Jackson River.

Marvin also presented the Glade Creek Project.  It was decided that we should focus on the North Fork Roanoke River Project.  More details to follow.  Should you have any questions or concerns please contact Marvin Huffman for more details.

Marvin is going to send me details on the Damn and Jackson River project and I will post once received.  They will include detailed plans and pdf. files on the project.

And as always if anyone has any other information or details on the meeting please email to me so that I can post them.  Thanks, Jon
