October 15, 2008 Raffle Meeting

Below find my notes from the meeting along with the winners of the raffle prizes.  I will post the minutes of the meeting when Chip Davis forwards to me.   Again, George we all want to thank you for the fantastic job you have done on the raffle. 

Dover opened the meeting and welcomed the new guest and members.  There were several in attendance including, Karl and Thomas May, Joy and John, Don Butler, Steve, John York, Steve Akers, Christy and John Ross.  Welcome to all and hope to see you at future meetings.  Sorry but I did not catch all last names so if anyone has them please forward to me to post.

Hans gave a report on the cleanup at Green Hill Park on Oct. 4, and reported the stream is clean.  He also reported on the stocking on Oct. 7, and said water was low but the temp. was good and we should take it easy on the trout until we get some rain.

Karl Miller reported on TIC.  Three sites running and there has been news reports aired on the Catholic site through News Channel 7.  You can visit their website for a broadcast of coverage.

Marvin reported on the Gathright Project.  He said more details to come and will be posted on website for review.  He has done an outstanding job on overseeing the details of this project.

Jack proposed that the chapter purchase a projector for meeting use.  A motion was made and passed membership.  He introduced Christy from VT and she gave an update on the Catawba Creek Project.

Bill Bainter gave a report on the Project Healing Waters program at the VA Hospital.  They meet every Monday evening at 5 pm in the parking lot of building #9.

John Ross presented plaque to Dr. Morgan Wilson for his work at Hollins University and Roanoke TU.  He also reported on the upcoming Youth Camp and requested that we sponsor youth from our area.

Dover presented plaque to Karl Miller for his outstanding work and service for the Trout In The Classroom project.

Jack awarded George Kesler a painting in appreciation for all he has done for the chapter with the raffle and fundraising events.

Bayes reported on upcoming elections and candidates in November.  President, Jack Ward, Vice Pres., Bill Bainter, Secretary, Chip Davis, Treasurer, David Wilson.  Also seeking committee volunteers which will be discussed at next meeting.

David Wilson has also requested that man hours worked be sent to him as soon as possible.  I will post a document on the latest news page to be completed and emailed to him.
