Saturday, April 4, 2009 - Clean Valley Day - Green Hill Park - Click here for pictures.

The clean-up crew in Green Hill Park consisted of Bill Bainter, Betty England, Anke Loberg, Hans Loberg, Kevin Kelleher, George Kesler, Dan Phlegar, Ken Seagle, Dick Taylor, Dick Vipperman, Jack Ward and Barry WhittWe started off at the picnic shelter with coffee by Vip and decaf by Hans and mini muffins by Anke. The water flow was too high to get in the river, otherwise the weather was nice except for the wind.

The park was relatively clean so with the excellent turnout the clean-up was a breeze. TU’s bi-annual presence and the new Greenway may help discourage littering in the area.

Fishing trip - The Primland Resort - April 17, 18, & 19

I was able to book the TU Roanoke Chapter 308 at The Primland Resort for April 17, 18, & 19. (see www.primland.com )

The largest cabin they had for that weekend will only hold 8 persons, but they let me have it for a special rate. It will only cost about $65.00/ person if we have eight people. That’s total lodging for three days and two nights.  Rather than having to cook our own meal the second night, I told Primland that we would have dinner at the lodge. The meal will cost approximately $45.00/ person, but it will be special.

We will fish the Dan River in the Kebler Valley area. We can also get permission to go beyond the Pinnacles power plant and fish between the two reservoirs.   There is no charge for any of the fishing if we leave the Primland property.  If anyone wishes to hire a professional, Orvis endorsed guide from Primland, the cost is $250.00/person/day. This includes lunch, and access to the prime water between the reservoirs accessed through the Primland property.  Any other questions, please contact me at rmarek@roanoke-cement.com or (540) 314.5368 – mobile.  Regards,  Robert  -  Those signed up to attend are:

Robert Marek David Veccillio George Kesler Jack Ward
Bill Bainter Lane Hudson Chip Davis Mike Lewis
Standby list - Dick Vipperman and Dan Phlegar
